The series "Our People" is a set of short interviews with the employees of the Estonian Aviation Academy, highlighting the people whose daily contributions make the academy just the way it is.
How long have you worked at the Estonian Aviation Academy?
It has been eight months since I started (on March 18th 2020).
How did you find Estonian Aviation Academy for yourself and what is your previous job experience?
I was looking for a job online when my dad found Estonian Aviation Academy having a vacancy for the position of Avionics lecturer and informed me. I applied for the position immediately and after sending in my paper work and the interview process I was selected.
My very first job experience couldn’t have been more perfect. As a foreigner, the warmth and acceptance extended by both the students and the staff has been beyond limits. I am so glad to be working with colleagues who are power houses of knowledge and experience. Also, the work environment is commendable as the academy provides the state-of-the-art infrastructure starting from the most tech-savvy lecture halls to the functional Hangar premises. To put that in a nutshell, it has been as pleasant as a perfect summer day.
What is the most exciting part of your current job?
The very fact that the future aviation industry is crafted in my class. Every eager student sitting in my class today is the technician, controller, engineer and pilot of the days to come and it’s a blessing that I get to take part in the most crucial phase of it: ‘Imparting Knowledge’.
What things can be found on your desk in the office?
A bottle of water, monthly and weekly planner, stationery, textbooks and other material (on the days when I am preparing for lectures) and a hand sanitizer.
Imagine it is the year 2030 – how would the life in the Estonian Aviation Academy look like?
Estonian Aviation Academy is one among the worlds most renowned institution for Aviation studies. It is an amalgam of the national and foreign students that it has also been know for its culturally diverse group of alumni students working as industry experts all across the globe.
What suggestions would you give to your 18-year-old self today?
There is no superior wealth than knowledge and your own well-being.
What is your book recommendation – please explain briefly why exactly this book?
I could get very fancy to write about a best-selling book that I recently read but, it will not be fitting as the only book that kindles and answers the most sensitive and volatile human that I am is the ‘BIBLE’. Every time I open the bible and read (maybe just a sentence), it speaks volumes and never fails to give me a message for the state in which I am be it when I am happy, sad, confused, stressed, excited, nervous or any other emotion for that matter. Hence this is the only book that I go to from time to time.
