Estonian Aviation Academy offers different services that support the design and production of unmanned aircraft systems, including performing different measurements, testing and analysis. Those services are mainly for organisations that develop unmanned aircrafts, but will also suit companies that design and manufacture aircraft components and subsystems.

Conceptual Aircraft Design

Estonian Aviation Academy helps develop an unmanned aerial vehicle that meets client needs and wishes. We advise on which platform to use, be it a helicopter, multirotor, airplane, flying wing or something else. With the help of the academy’s experts, it is also possible to find out what the limits of the aircraft's capabilities are.

Consultations on Unmanned Aircraft Production Technologies

Estonian Aviation Academy is offering unmanned aircraft design services. On top of that, the Academy has the capability to fabricate prototypes to suit customer’s specs. We offer assistance with choosing the components and software and also help with system configuration.

In addition, we will help to find the best solution when it comes to the manufacturing technology of unmanned aircrafts or their components. The design of aerial vehicles and the development of manufacturing technology is based on expert opinion and experience of aviation specialists in the fields of commercial production.

Optimisation of Aircraft Mechanics, Aerodynamics and Electrical Systems

Estonian Aviation Academy offers different CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analyses, experimental measuring services and field-specific consultations to evaluate the mechanical rigidity/strength/stability, gas-dynamic parameters, electromagnetic emissions and system reliability etc. of different aircrafts.

This service is directed to companies that develop both manned and unmanned aircrafts, and to all other companies that deal with the design and manufacturing of mechanical constructions.

Determining the Accuracy of Pitot Statics

At the Estonian Aviation Academy, it is possible to determine the accuracy of the pitot-static system of an unmanned or manned aircraft using a calibrated device. It is possible to simulate a height of up to 16 km, a speed of up to 1000 km/h and a vertical speed of up to 1.8 km/min.

Engine Power Testing

Estonian Aviation Academy offers the opportunity to test different engines, giving the result of the torque, the number of revolutions and, consequently, the maximum power. The parameters of the motors should fit into the following ranges:

  • torque 0.5 - 39 Nm
  • power 0 – 15 kW
  • rotation frequency 0 - 7500 rpm.

Measuring the Efficiency of Propellers

Estonian Aviation Academy has the capability to measure and determine the efficiency of propellers, including propellers working in hover flight mode.

The measuring device is able to accommodate the following combinations of propeller and engine:

  • Torque: 0.1-10 N⋅m
  • Thrust: 0.1-150 N
  • Propeller diameter: 5”-23”.

Educational and development packages have been created within the framework of project no. 2014-2020.4.01.20-0293 "Development of Estonian Aviation Academy Competence Centre".
