The lead partner of the project was the Language Centre of the Academy of Security Sciences. In addition to the Estonian Aviation Academy, the project also involved the Finnish Border and Coast Guard Academy and Vilnius University. At the Estonian Aviation Academy, the project was led by Ere Saar and supported by Julia Kovalenko.
As a result of the project, a versatile and user-friendly web site www.lspco.eu was created. The website is intended for educators, learners, and professionals interested in enhancing specialized language teaching and making language education more meaningful.
The website includes, for example:
guidelines and examples for structuring LSP lessons;
effective collaboration methods for integrating language and subject teaching;
tools and scenarios to involve various stakeholders;
best practices from partner universities.
What is specialized language?
Language for Specific Purposes is a widely used approach in second and foreign language instruction,
designed to meet the immediate and highly specific needs of learners who
require the language as a functional tool for their education,
training, or profession.
LSP teaching helps learners acquire language skills purposefully in fields such as aviation, medicine, emergency services, or law enforcement.
Project period: October 2023 – September 2025
Funding for the Estonian Aviation Academy: €8,270 (Nordplus Adult programme).
