Internship is a purposeful activity aimed at achieving learning outcomes, with the goal of applying acquired knowledge and skills in a work environment as determined by the educational institution and under the guidance of a supervisor (Higher Education Standard § 4 subsection 3).
The organization of internships is regulated by the Estonian Aviation Academy's internship regulations and training organization manuals. The duration and timing of the internship are regulated by the study programme and are organized according to the academic calendar and/or the work schedule created by the internship base. A student who fails to appear for the internship at the scheduled time without a valid reason and/or violates internship agreements may be expelled for misconduct in accordance with the procedures established in the Estonian Aviation Academy's study regulations.
The internship base can be an institution designated by the academy's structural unit, an institution proposed by the academy's structural unit, or an institution chosen by the student. If the student finds the internship base themselves, it must be approved by the lecturer responsible for the internship in the academy's structural unit no later than one week before the start of the internship.
