Hsi-Tung Yu is a graduate student majoring in Transportation Science at National Taiwan Ocean University. He learned many courses about transportation, such as Air Transport Development, Transportation Productivity and Efficiency Analysis. During college, he also took other aviation courses, such as Aircraft Systems, Aeronautical Engineering, etc. He previously studied Aerospace Engineering at Tamkang University, and he was also a photojournalist on the campus.
This is his first time attending an international conference, through the guidance of professor Dr. Yu-Chun Chang, they co-submitted the paper “Measuring changes of major Asian airportsʼ air connectivity and suggestions for improvement post COVID-19”. Which analyzes the changes in transfer connectivity of 10 major East Asian airports for the routes between Southeast Asia and North America from 2004 to 2023. According to the research, Taiwan Taoyuan Airport has the best flight connection quality on transit routes. In 2023, the number of feasible connecting flights at Taoyuan Airport has surpassed that of Hong Kong, and is not far behind those of Incheon and Narita. With the recovery of the aviation market post-pandemic, airports with fewer feasible connecting flights can actively resume or develop new routes, and airports with low transfer quality can further shorten the connecting time for transfer flights.
